West Cornwall Coast Path

Cornwall is rightfully claimed to be one of the most stunning parts of England. Surrounded by hundreds of miles of coastline, ranging from rugged cliffs to golden sands, it has been a favourite destination for holiday-makers throughout recent times. Whilst the beaches are the main draw for tourists, Cornwall's countryside is also stunning, with endless footpaths and bridleways to enjoy. One of the most famous of all, is the South-west Coastal Path, which travels through Cornwall on its route around south-west England. Some of the most stunning parts of this path lie at the very tip of Cornwall, taking in the huge clifftop walks, as well as the World-famous Land's End.

In May, 2004, the EOTS team spent a few days walking around this coast path, starting at Penzance, in an anti-clockwise direction around the coastline, ending back at Penzance 5 days later. In total, the route is roughly 55 miles long allowing for detours, and many, many photo stops. Cornwall often has some of the best weather the UK has to offer, with warm, sunny skies frequent in the summer time. We were lucky, as during our visit, Cornwall had its sunniest May for over 50 years!

This report follows our route around the coast, with each individual leg representing individual days between campsites. Please click on each leg on the map below, to view photographs taken along the route. Also, St Ives, and Zennor have their own page - just click on the town to view.
