Day 4 Travel Day: Oklahoma to Kansas With little prospect of any significant thunderstorms today, and the prediction of some possible action further north tomorrow, we decided to use today as a travel day. We left Oklahoma by late morning and travelled northwards up the I-35, I-135 and I-70 to arrive at Colby in Kansas by early evening. En route, we were amongst a fairly sizeable group of chasers which included NOAA and the Vortex 2 DOWs. Most of the journey was overcast with low cloud and pockets of drizzle and temperatures of only 15C, although the sun returned just as we completed our journey in Kansas. Our hotel was the Comfort Inn in Colby, where we were joined by some of the US's biggest names in storm chasing. Burgers and steaks were enjoyed at Montana Mike's before we turned in for the night. badly damaged by the epic hailstorm which battered the city the previous
week.

town!
