01/06 Day
16 After a completely exhausting but thoroughly memorable day yesterday, we were a long way from where we needed to be today. We therefore had to up-and-out fairly early from our hotel in Guymon, ready to make the long journey northwards to return to Denver, and our flight home. We shared the driving on the return, dropping off our in-car internet equipment near the airport first, before checking in and getting ready for the flight home. Our flight was particularly turbulent and there was quite a lot of mountain-wave action east of the Rockies. An impressive tailwind meant we arrived over an hour early back in the UK, only to be thwarted by problems on the ground which saw us sat on the tarmac for a long time before docking. Not the best end to our fortnight's trip, but we were still on a high from yesterday, so we didn't care :-) Total mileage: 365 miles |

Packing the car for the final time at our hotel in Guyman; sadness combined
with excitement at yesterday's tornadic triumph! . |

| Here's
a few more dents to add to the collection, picked up yesterday south of
Campo as golf ball sized hail rained down metres from the tornado. . |

| It
was rather odd seeing the snow-capped mountains just outside Denver, after
a fortnight of dry, hot and dusty Great Plains vistas. . |

| Saying
goodbye for the final time to the Brown Unit; a good friend, a great fellow
chaser but, most of all, a good keeper of secrets (well, we hope he won't
tell anyone where the dents came from). . |

| And
finally, the last shot of the holiday, staring down the snout of our ride
home at Denver International Airport. . |
