West Cornwall Coast Path
Leg 5- Sennen to Porthcurno
Page 2

Around
the headland from the town of Porthcurno, is a small beach, which is relatively
difficult to access. However, those who do walk down the steep path are
easily compensated, with sand and sea which would look more at home in the
tropics!

Perfect
timing! The sea draws out ahead of an Atlantic wave, which then crashes
back onto the beach. The wave almost seems like a solid shadow-casting wall
in this image!

Between
the town of Porthcurno and it's superb beach, is an area of vegetation which
is almost unique to the sheltered valley. Huge plants dwarf people along
this narrow path - it almost feels like a scene from Jurassic Park!

By
mid-afternoon, we reached our campsite just before Treen. This was by far
our favourite pitch, and the campsite commands perfect views over the ocean!

With
time to kill during the evening, we headed only a few hundred metres from
the campsite, and down the cliffs at Logan Rock.

We
saw enough of these caterpillers to warrent a photograph!

The
perfect end to the perfect day, as the sun sets over West Cornwall.
Well, it wasn't totally perfect! Unfortunately, Bren injured his knee towards the end of the day, and due to overcompensation with his other knee, was left almost crippled. The last leg of our trip from Porthcurno, back to Penzance, and thus completing the circular walk, was cut short.
