4th
January 2003 , Hope, Derbyshire
Taken
at the foot of Win Hill, in the Hope Valley of the Peak District. This snow
had fallen a few days before. Winds were light, straight from Scandinavia,
and 850 hPa values were around -9*c. Was taken quite late on in the day, as
sun is stuggling to make it through the trees.

4th
January 2003 , Hope, Derbyshire
Taken
at the summit of Win Hill in Derbyshire. Wind chill was intense, and the summit's
wind strength had created the beautiful smooth texture of the snow on the
north facing edge. Win Hill overlooks the Hope Valley on the south side, and
the Ladybower Reservoir on the north side, as seen here.

January 2003, A57 Snake Pass, Derbyshire
I
highly recommend to anyone living in Sheffield or Manchester, next time snow
is forecast, head to this location. Taken just off the Snake Pass at the Forestry
Commission's Snake Woodlands. A fantastic, underrated location.

5th January 2003, Tividale, West Midlands
Looking
out over Tividale Quays Canal Basin round the corner from my home in the middle
of the best/only snow I've seen for a while, it snowed all morning and stopped
by midday and was all gone by 2pm.

This
image was taken during the late evening in Acton during the heavy snowfalls
across London. The image was taken using a black and white mode on my digital
camera.

30th January 2003, Acton, West London
Taken
from the front of the house in which I was lodging. Using a long exposure
on my camera, I was able to pick up the snow falling past the orange street
lights.

Because
it's pretty, and a rare sight, here is snow falling in West London! Taken
from my car on the long, slow journey home from work.

The
road in front of a friend's house. This shows the depth of the snow
(over five inches) and also how dangerous the driving conditions were.
