Sunsets & Sunrises in 2002
Yet
another frontal clearance at the end of the day reveals a slice of red sky
to the west. Just at the right time, I managed to capture the setting sun
between two Reading chimneys :-)
3
minutes later, and the sun has all but set below the horizon, leaving behind
dark clouds overhead, and a sliver of red sky on the horizon.
A
crimson sunset, sent in by Padi, with the back edge of a cold front being
brilliantly lit by the setting sun. Once again, the shadows of buildings and
trees brings out the contrasts in the coloured sky.
A
lovely image of cumulus at sunset from Rob Fuller. This photograph was snapped
in late May 2002, and shows heaps of cumulus, decaying away towards sunset.
Another
sunset image from Rob Fuller, also snapped in late May. Looking here to the
west, small cumulus floccus break away from a dying mountain of cumulus congestus.
September
2002, and as a fiery red sun sets behind the nearby mountain, cumulus clouds
cast long shadows into the evening sky.
Also
in September 2002, a busy air route leaves a plethora of contrails in the
sky, all lit up amazingly by the setting sun.
....and
a short time later, the contrails become eerily dark against the last rays
of sunlight.
The
back edge of a cold front across north Wales, typically clearing just as the
sun dips behind the nearby mountain.
November 2002, and the setting sun glimmers through row after row of undulating
mid and high level clouds.
